Summer Term Week 5
Hi Everyone,
I really hope you are enjoying half term so far and you’re all having fun in the sun! We had holiday club yesterday which was a hot one – we took the children on a mini trip to Aldi to buy ice lollies and use their air conditioning to cool us all down!!
I can’t believe how quickly this term has gone and I would like to thank you for your support during the transition between Amelia leaving and me starting in the role. You may have seen that there are a few more staffing changes coming in the next few months, we will do everything we can to ensure that the changes happen without affecting the children or our relationships with you.
Back to last week, yet another busy one. The Moons and Suns had their last football session with Alfie and their first tennis sessions with Nigel. Some of their tennis shots are great just from one session. Nigel will be back next term for more coaching.
The Stars have had a great time again out at Forest School (I promise there are pictures to come later today), they really don’t want to come back in at the end of their time. This will continue next term as it has been a success.
This week outside we have been setting up water transportation challenges – they have been moving buckets, watering can and tubs of water from one end of the garden to another, having relay races while filling up containers and going over obstacle courses carrying buckets of water. There have been lots of outfit changes but lots of fun as well!
In the Sun Room we have had Post Office role play, a sorting station was made, parcels wrapped, postcards written and Anna, who was previously a postie, let us borrow her old jacket and bag to make the role play come to life!
During circle times the Suns and Moons have been learning about time. We have looked at the Pre School daily timetable, clocks, made watches and have had timed races using the stopwatch on the iPads. The Stars have been looking at patterns. They have matched animal patterns to the correct animal, followed colour patterns, matched glove patterns and made patterns with coloured counters.
Next week we will be looking at life cycles, our butterflies will hopefully arrive, we will have Costa coffee shop role play in garden along with music and instruments. Inside we will also using all our various construction equipment and toys.
It is going to be a very busy next term for the children and staff, the school leavers will be having taster sessions at their new schools, some of the teachers also visit the children during our sessions, the staff will be starting home visits for the new children followed by the session visits. If you know of anyone that has a pre school aged child that needs a space, ask them to contact Mandy as our spaces are filling up!
Hope you enjoy the remainder of half term and see you all back from the 1st June.
Many thanks,
Louise
