Our next committee meeting will take place at 7.30 pm on 13th May 2024 via Teams.
Meetings are open to all parents, we would welcome your support. If you would like to join
the meeting, please let us know in the office and we will send you a link.

Sponsored Bike Ride – We are so excited to announce the absolutely fantastic total of money raised by you all for this
event is ……….£2156.50 !!
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that helped and donated!

Trips and Outings – We absolutely love taking our school starter children out on local trips
including St Andrew’s Church, the library, primary schools, the milkshake cabin. Our adult to
child ratio is much higher when we are not in our setting so we are reliant on parents, carers
and grandparents to help us out. We generally go out in groups of approximately twelve
children so if you receive a text message asking if you can help it means that your child is
included in this trip. We completely understand that parents work and have other
commitments but any help at all is hugely appreciated – we can’t go on outings without
parental support.

Thank you for all the kind donations for the items that we use regularly in our
sessions – you’ve all been so generous!

Big thank you to Tommy’s Dad, Kieran for washing and treating all our
pathways, they look amazing! If you are interested then Kieran’s info is

Big thank you to Max’s Mum, Becky for making the cute little Easter Chicks
that managed to raise £50 for Preschool!

The Sun and Moon groups have a visit to St Andrews Church
coming up on the Thursday 2nd May (Suns) and the Friday 3rd
May (Moons) in the morning. We can only go ahead with these
trips if we have enough parent volunteers to help us walk with
the children to and from Preschool. If you are able to help us
with this, please let the office know asap. We will be leaving
preschool at 9:15am and returning back to Preschool by 11am.
Thank you very much!

Continuous provision

We work hard to ensure our activities and ideas are really interesting and engaging for all the children here
and that through their time with us they make excellent progress. To do this we add different ideas to learn
new skills in play that is available all the time. We include books, physical development, sand, small world,
mark making, mud kitchen and construction in our plan for this half term. This ensures that all areas are
available over the term, that the staff have the ideas they need to extend and interest the children and that the
children can go back to a favourite activity area and revisit what they enjoy, looking for new learning or
experiences.
Andrea is in charge of our continuous provision planning and we talk over ideas each week when we plan
on a Thursday – the resources are designed to be independently accessed so children are free to explore their
own creativity and ideas, and they can seek adult interaction or support if needed. The resources should be
of a high quality and we aim to inspire awe and wonder. As the children develop during their time with us in
their learning, they start to get more out of the resources, having new ideas, exploring more complicated
concepts – all leading to excellent progress for school.
In our continuous provision the focus in on the process not the outcome, so the process of creating that
amazing mud pie, the mixing, the choosing which pot is right, using the spoon, adding the herbs or spices,
taking turns with a friend, listening to ideas, deciding what to make and how are all as important as the end
result!

Our Summer Fete is being held at Preschool on Saturday 22nd June so mark the date in your diaries!
This is our biggest fundraising event of the year and is always a fun filled day.
To make it as successful and amazing as possible, we need as many helpers as we can please!
We will need some helpers on the day to help run stalls or help set up/tidy up. We normally have a delicious
Cake Stall so anyone that would be able to bake any cakes for that would be great too.
The committee have started planning the day and making all the arrangements needed, including our very
popular ‘Pick your own Prize Raffle’. The Raffle will be available to everyone soon to sell tickets to family
and friends, so look out for that information being sent out to you in the next few weeks!

Advantages of outdoor play at Pre School

Jumping, running, skipping, riding bikes, climbing can:
● Enhance gross motor skills
● Use large muscle groups – improves coordination, balance, agility, stamina
and overall physical ability
● Develop bone density – stronger bones can lower the risk of injuries and fractures, promote healthy
growth and development
● Boosts cardiovascular health – outdoor games require physical exertion, which helps in improving
cardiovascular health of children. Regular exercise can lower the risk of obesity, future heart disease
and other health issues.
Children develop self confidence, independence and self esteem and:
● They become aware of limits, boundaries and challenge in their play
● Show resilience and try new activities
● Make friends and engage with others
● Helps develop speech and communication
● Enhance their emotional intelligence
● Problem solving – individually and working together
● Gives them the freedom to shout, make noise and let off steam!
Encourages exploration and creativity:
● Motivates children to use their imagination
● Let’s them experiment
● Explore the natural environment
● Have new sensory experiences
Wellbeing
● Exercise releases endorphins which reduce anxiety and increase happiness
● Good balance of inside play and outside play
● Fresh air – being outside in the sun and the rain can add to the children’s play (always dressed
appropriately – hats & gloves for cold weather, waterproofs & wellies for wet days and sun hats for
sunny, hot days)
