Spring Term Week 8 2023 gallery

We have been celebrating World Book Day this week and the children have loved dressing up and bringing their books in to share with friends. We have also had two fantastic trips to the library with the Sun and Moon groups – thank you to everyone who has helped us walk there and support the trip. The ladies have had lots of time to read stories and sit with children and enjoy the books in the mornings by setting up a cosy area for reading.

Our circus play outside has been fantastic, so many different games have evolved over the last week and we are keeping that going for another week – there is a skittle alley, splat the rat, hook and duck, hoopla, flaming rings to leap through and lots of other games that promote physical development and turn taking.

Our growing garden is beginning to come back to life and we are running a garden club where small groups come to take care of it and start to plant some veggies and see the spring bulbs appear too. We would love some frogspawn if anyone finds any!

Another focus has been our safari role play and exotic animal area inside and we have had some wonderful role play, selling food for the animals, making a safari jeep to explore, lots of animal investigations and craft has brought the learning to life there and the children have loved it! We are going to turn that into a safari vets next week so if anyone has any exotic cuddly toys we could borrow that would be really fun.

Our circle times have been based on animals with other areas of learning as part of the theme.

The Sun and Moon groups have used animals to learn about counting and numbers, chosen masks and acted out the movements and what those animals eat, they have played animal bingo and listened to clues to guess the animal and used our globe and ipad to explore and learn more about animals that live in Africa.

The Star groups have rescued animals that were covered in tape and wool (great for fine motor strength and perseverance skills!) and matched animal patterns (maths) and they sang animal number songs, sorted big and little animals too.

We have really had a lovely week and look forward to more playing next week, back in our normal clothes!
