Autumn Term 2026 – Week 2

Hello,

Hope you have had a good week, we have here. We have had a few more new children join us this week and they have settled really well. I can’t believe how well they have all settled and have got used to our routine!

This week Forest School has started for the Suns and Moons, they had a small taster session last week to show the children garden. This week they have put on on their waterproof trousers , jackets and wellies and have thoroughly enjoyed themselves. I will send over the Forest School photos on Monday and will ask Sophie is she can done a small write up to you know what they have been doing – the planning is on the board by the front door to you know what they will be doing over the next few weeks.

We have started the tooth brushing this week, and again the children have gotten used to it very quickly. We do it after tidy up time in the afternoon and before their story time.

This week circle times have been about emotions and movement. The Stars have been learning and singing action songs and using claves & ribbons when singing. The Suns and Moons have been talking about emotions, looking at themselves in mirrors while making faces, been on emotion face hunts and take played an emotions freeze dance – when the emotion was said they had to freeze and make that face!

They have enjoyed dancing and singing in the sun room, more emotions activities and played with gloop (cornflour and water) – I apologise if they have come back covered in it!! Our floor got quite a lot of it 😂

Next week we will be looking at jobs, the vehicles people use and families during free flow and circle times. We will have a cafe and cake shop inside and clay at the malleable table.

Outside we are extending our home corner to include washing up, laundry and pretend cooking. The babies have been very popular so we will definitely get them out again soon.

That’s it from me for this week, we are looking forward to celebrating Mandy’s retirement later on this afternoon and thanking her for over 30 years service with us. She will be missed hugely but she fully deserves her retirement and we wish her the very best for her new adventures!!
