Pre-school Manager
with a clear vision of excellent Early Years Practice
to lead our well-established charity run Pre-school
Minimum Requirements
- Level 4 or above in relevant early years qualification – Early Years Teacher is desirable
- 5 years experience of working with children age 2-5 years
- Leadership & Management experience in an Early Years setting
We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced level 4 or above qualified person to join our team, lead the care, learning and development of our children age 2-5yrs, support our Committee and work closely with our Administration Manager. Ability to manage, motivate and train staff is essential as is a commitment to Safeguarding, inclusion, working with parents and outdoor learning. A clear and diligent approach to the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage is also vital.
36 hours per week (which includes non-contact time) – 38wks per year plus holiday club throughout the year.
Salary – depending on qualification level £23,000 – £25,400.
Cullompton Pre-school is a thriving community pre-school with an excellent local reputation. We have been judged as Outstanding by Ofsted in our last three inspections – 2015, 2019, 2025. Our building is well designed and resourced with a large landscaped garden and a separate wildlife garden. We currently offer our children Forest School throughout the year and a programme of visits and outings There is full time office support and our staff team is dedicated and highly motivated to provide high outcomes for all our children and families.
Our culture is very supportive and we are a close team, well-being is a top priority and staff have one ”well-being day” per year which is a paid day off. Workload is managed to ensure low stress levels and supervisions are regular and offer opportunities to discuss progress and any support needed.

Interview process
As part of the process candidates are invited to visit the pre-school in order to meet staff, by arranging an appointment with our Admin Manager. Dates are available from 9th Jan – 30th Jan 2026.
Short Listed candidates will be notified by Tuesday 3rd February 2026.
Interviews will take place w/c 9th February 2026.
Start Date May 2026
As part of the process you will be required to submit a curriculum planning document to be discussed at interview. All details will be sent with your invitation to interview and a template will be provided. You will also run an activity with a small group of children which will be observed.
