Here at Cullompton Pre School we are very proud of our work supporting all children. We are a very inclusive setting and recognise that each child is individual, that each child follows their own path of development and we celebrate neurodiversity in our setting. We are all different and unique and we recognise every child and every child matters. When children need extra support with their path we are here to support and help the whole family, working with a strong commitment to inclusion.

Inclusion funding for children with additional needs or disabilities
What is inclusion funding?
Inclusion funding is a sum of money available to each early years setting to enable them to provide enhanced support for children who have a delay in their development/neurodiversity. These differences can be from ASD (autistic spectrum disorder), speech and language, disabilities, or other developmental delays or neurodiversity – all children are own their own unique path.
This money is paid to the setting termly to support the inclusion of an individual child in the setting.
This inclusion is flexible and it is up to each setting on how best they use it for the benefit of the child.
It can be used to give the child extra resources or equipment that they may need to assist them during the pre-school day.
It can also be used to provide staff with training and resources on how best to support the delay.
Or it can be used to provide an extra member of staff to work with that child during the day so they may access learning opportunities, adult led activities or circle times. This adult can support and model play and interactions, the use of language or support targeted intervention.
What will this look like for my child?
For each child we believe would benefit from additional support during the pre-school day we will speak to you, the parent firstly about our observations.
Our SENDco will then make an application to Devon County Council to request the money with our evidence and our reasons for the request.
There is also advice and guidance for parents available via www.devonias.org.uk
Our SENDco will then put together an individual inclusion plan for your child. We follow the graduated response model in early years which is assess, plan, do, review.
This plan will include the specific targets we would like to work on during the day and the support we can offer the child. This will then be shared with you and we will arrange 6 weekly meetings for you and the SENDco to discuss the targets and any progress that the child has made. We are then able to adjust these targets so that your child will be constantly making progress and getting the support that is right for them. We can also liaise with outside agencies like nursery plus, early years complex needs or speech and language and use their recommendations within the targets for your child. Any work we do with your child will be recorded in their inclusion support folder which will be available for you to view anytime.
