A Typical Day

Session times

9:05am – 12:05pm (No lunch)

9:05am – 3:05pm (With packed lunch)

12:05pm – 3:05pm (No lunch)

 

Session structure

9:05am – Children arrive with their parents/carers and self-register with their named ‘shape’. Children are free to play.

9.30am Circle time, staff and children come together in their designated room (as per the style of their self registration shape) to sing welcome songs, share news and talk about what they want to do that day, planned activities by group leader based on next steps and areas of learning.

10am – Children are free to play in or outdoors, with any of the activities on offer. For example craft, playdough, water/sand play, ride-on toys, home corner, book corner, large climbing equipment to name but a few! We plan specific activities / areas – garage role play, theatre role play, science week etc.

During free play we also offer a cafe-style snack time.  This style of snack time promotes the children’s independence and social skills.

11:30am – We ring the bell for tidy up time. Children are encouraged to help with this aspect of the day.

11:40am – Children move to the large carpet to enjoy storytime and singing with staff.

11:55am – Children who are staying all day make their way to the blue  room for their lunch. Children who will be going home enjoy activities in the green and red rooms.

12:05pm – Our morning children are collected by their parents. Our afternoon children arrive and take part in activites in the Sun room and under cover area.

2:50pm – Children return to their colour designated room to enjoy storytime and singing with staff.

3.05pm – Children are collected by their parents.

Although our daily routine is the same we offer a very wide variety of activities that change each day. The activities on offer are based around the interests and cultures of the children attending that particular session. We also link activities to calendar events including, ie. Mothers/Fathers Day, Christmas, Diwali, Harvest, Chinese New Year, Pancake Day amongst others. We invite the police, fire brigade, lollipop lady, animals, parents in and do Forest School in the Autumn and Summer Terms and offer nurture groups.
